The story is set within an isolated section of the Romanian Zone that was conquered by the Romanian Third Army in 1991. In spite of the split from the Romanian state, the population continued to speak Romanian as well as Romany, as did many of the intellectuals and city dwellers. In this community, the eldest prisoner with a centipede bite, a penal colony convict known as Paul, rules. He will try to control the deviant sexual appetite of the other centipede prisoners and save them from being forced into sexual slavery. To this end he utilizes the resources of the prison and its surroundings to try to create a woman he can marry and who can bear him children. The other centipede prisoners are given a similarly crude but amusing plan of events to follow. The story is then continued in a sequel, The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence (2009).
